Final Painting Studies

I painted my spring training experience in Florida with my team. More specifically, I will be painting my feelings surrounding the instance in the airport waiting to fly home, where my lacrosse coach told our team that our season had been cancelled.

For seniors, waves of emotions came over us and we were at a loss for words. Being the senior team captain, I felt the responsibility of pushing my feelings to help console the team.
Final Series Piece of three
I painted a series of 3 long canvases all at 8" x 24". Each convey the different emotions as they swarm together and come over like a wave. Some may be more calm, while others are more intense. A split complementary scheme, using blue, violet, and yellow-orange was used.
Below are the individual pieces re-arranged
I looked at using water and how that affected the values of the hues. Combined with using water, I splattered across canvases, and dry brushed to add contrast. Another technique used another technique was mixing soap and water to create bubbles.

Learning from previous projects, I want to ensure that within the series each canvas relates to each other, and that it looks as if the strokes can continue across each canvas. However, at the same time, I was able to interchange the order of the pieces, while keeping the same amount of depth in each piece.
